-What is humus? Organic material which is usually dark and spongy.

-Where does mineral material come from? It comes from sediments and weathered rocks.

-How doe climate affect the soil? Temperature, moisture, rainfall and wind influence mineral material weathering and the production of organic matter.

-What happens if the climate is warm and moist? The soil has more organic matter because plants grow much faster.

THE PLANT A plant is a living organism. It is made up of different parts, each or which has a particular purpose, or specialized function. If one part of the plant is not functioning properly the whole plant will suffer. But we may cut flowers off the plant or prune the roots or the branches.
